It’s that time of year again when the days get shorter and the nights get colder. That can only mean one thing: Cannabis Book Club is Back! Join us this winter at the Cannabis Coaching Institute as we cozy up with four excellent reads that cover growing up in a cannabis family, using cannabis in your middle years, a fantastic introduction to medical cannabis and a super nerdy science book.
And the authors of each book will be joining us live! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a complete newcomer, there’s something for everyone in our book club. So join us as we nerd out on cannabis books!

January 10th: Home Baked by Alia Volz
I read this book last winter and have never been able to get Alia off my mind since. She grew up in San Francisco in the 70s and 80s. Over that time, her mom became more and more influential in the growing cannabis scene. This book covers Alia’s childhood and gives us a firsthand account of everything that pre-legalization advocates did for us.
If you love cooking with cannabis and learning about the history of the magical plant, this is a must-read.
February 6th: Midlife Magic by Kim Sarsons
Even if you’re not in your middle years, this book is a fantastic introduction to using cannabis as a tool for better health and wellness. Kim gives us a firm understanding of the plant and encourages us to incorporate it into our self-care routine. Her advice is practical, her recipes are amazing, and you will feel excited and encouraged to use cannabis to its fullest potential after reading this great book.
Bonus! Did you know Kim Sarsons is a Cannabis Coaching Institute grad? She was actually in my graduating class way back in 2018. She has new books in the works, so make sure you come and check out her Magic.
March 6th: The Medical Cannabis Primer by Ruth Fisher PhD
If you’ve ever seen one of my videos, you know I have a lot of books about cannabis science, but this one is different. Not only does Ruth lay out the concepts in language that’s easy to understand even for newbies, but her book is chock-full of full-color pictures, infographics, and charts. It’s the most visually helpful book I have on my shelf, and I recommend it to everyone.
Ruth, like all the authors, will be live in our Book Club. So grab the book and start jotting down all your questions!
April 3: Curious About Cannabis by Jason Wilson
I’m a huge cannabis science nerd and love reading about it. But when I picked up Jason’s book last year, I could not put it down. My copy is riddled with underlines, highlighter marks, and a whole bunch of “HOLY CRAP!” written in the margins. He explains things like I’ve never seen before and dives into rabbit holes I didn’t know existed.
We left this book for last because you’ll need to take your time with it. The new, updated 3rd edition features an additional 100 pages of content, more activities and home experiments, as well as full-color pictures for the first time.
