CCI Grad Profile: Taameir Used Cannabis for His Migraines and Now Teaches Others About The Plant

Meet Taameir Drew

Certified: Cannabis Coach and Educator

Class of: February 2021

Location: New York, NY

Background and Qualifications:

I am an educator by profession. I have spent years in my professional life understanding how to teach to all learners.

I use that knowledge to make all the information I share in workshops, 1:1 coaching, and in answering questions accessible to the people I engage with.

Why are you a Cannabis Coach?

Taameir Drew is a certified Cannabis Coach

I chose to become a Cannabis Coach because I have firsthand experience with how incorporating cannabis into a wellness regimen can transform your health. I want to help eliminate so much of the dependency that we’ve developed on prescriptions to manage what ails us.

My why is that I know cannabis works, and I believe that the people in my community deserve holistic health options that work. I want to be a resource to support the people in my community to achieve positive, healthy outcomes holistically.

How has cannabis impacted your life?

I’ve suffered chronic migraines for over a decade. I had at least ten days of migraine pain every month, meaning I spent more than a third of every year in excruciating pain. I tried everything I could think of to find relief.

I went to every kind of doctor recommended to me and faithfully took their suggested prescriptions. Nothing worked, and my quality of life had been compromised to the point where I could not work in rooms with certain kinds of light, and I was missing out on important milestones, like weddings, for loved ones.

A friend then recommended trying cannabis. While somewhat hesitant because of the stigma surrounding cannabis, I decided to try my friend’s advice. With some guidance, I was able to find the right course of treatment.

So in a very real way, cannabis restored my quality of life. Now, I get to support others in improving their quality of life, and I feel really fortunate to be doing that kind of work.

What are you fantastic at as a Coach? What’s your special sauce?

I am fantastic at connecting with others in an authentic way. This happens because I truly care about the people I serve.

My special sauce is my level of investment in achieving your desired outcomes. I want everything my clients want for themselves and then some. This is my passion, and coming from a community that was directly impacted by the stigmatization and criminalization of cannabis makes this work personal for me.

I will work tirelessly to find solutions for the challenges my clients are facing. I want them to have that same relief I felt when I found the right course of treatment for my migraines. I want health and wellness for my clients and my community.

Tell us about your best offering.

Every client needs something different, so I think my 1:1 coaching is my best offering. I get to spend ample time assessing what the individual needs and wants out of their time with me and create an individualized plan to address those needs and wants.

Our time is tailored to meet their goals in a way that empowers them with information and resources to manage their wellness. 1:1 coaching really allows us to establish a rapport and work in tandem.

The feedback that I’ve gotten from clients has been very positive, and I’ve maintained these relationships over months, not just the weeks included in the coaching package.

Who are the people who benefit most from your coaching?

The people who benefit most from my services are those that are ready to shift from prescription medicine and take their wellness into their own hands holistically.

They’re ready for the shift, and they just need a partner on the journey. They’re ready to learn and explore and are committed to their long-term health.

Share a testimonial from a client.

It’s hard to pick just one because any happy client is deeply gratifying to me. However, I had a client who was diagnosed with cancer and wanted to figure out holistic means to combat the pain and nausea.

We were able to work together for the entire round of chemo to find solutions that worked best for her and to ensure her health and comfort throughout that time. Now she knows what to do for her next round of chemo but also knows I’m available to her at any point down the line.

“Was advised to take a customized; which has allowed my body to maintain a level of centeredness and groundedness.” – Nicole F.
